On August 22, 2016, the original version of Gone in 60 Seconds will be shown as part of a fund-raiser for local charities. The organizers for the winter Polar Bear Swim for Charity wanted to do something fun to keep the momentum going in summer.
The event will take place at Sunset Bay Beach Club. Doors open at 7pm and at 7:30pm a “Gone in 30 Seconds Live Auction” will take place. Guests will purchase play money and will be able to bid on donated items with auctioneer Chuck Eckert. The final auction item will be a 2-night stay for two at a waterfront cottage in Sunset Bay, September 23-25 for the annual Sunset Bay Boat Burning Celebration. This last item will be auctioned off for cash. There will be raffles, movie snacks and a full bar.
Our top swimmer for the past two years, Denise Wolnik, will have a can and bottle drive at the entrance to the beach club. Bring your redeemable empty pop and beer cans and help Denise reach her pledge goal for 2017!
After the auction, Ron Halicki, brother of Toby Halicki, will introduce the movie at about 8:30pm. Ron also starred in the movie and composed the original score. Along with brother Toby, Ron produced other movies including The Junkman (1980) and Deadline Auto Theft (1980). Ron will give viewers pointers on certain details to watch for in the movie and after the movie will be available for a question and answer session, as well as sharing some of the back stories about the movie.
$5 admission tickets will be sold at the door the day of the event. The movie will be shown on the patio if weather permits. Please bring a chair or blanket.
