The Buffalo History Museum has a collection three photos of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s visit to Buffalo in November of 1967. His 1967 visit was sponsored by the University at Buffalo and included a speech at the Kleinhans Music Hall regarding racial integration. The photos within the Museum’s collection contain two from a press conference during the visit, potentially taken at Kleinhans Music Hall, and one photo taken during the speech itself with attendees greeting Dr. King. Dr. King visited Buffalo two times prior to this visit – once to give a speech in 1956 at the Statler Hotel and then in 1960 for a Baptist youth event at Memorial Auditorium. The Museum is honored to care for and contain in their collection photos from his 1967 visit, so that current and future generations may have access to this piece of history.
