One classic rock band has had a long, winding and tumultuous road, but it looks as though AC/DC is finally going to be back in black.

In recent weeks, the band’s social media accounts have posted teasers with the hashtag #PWRUP. And according to some reports, ads for the band’s comeback have appeared in newspapers in parts of the U.K., such as Teeside, Newcastle, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham. A poster teasing the comeback appeared outside band member Angus Young’s old high school in Sydney, Australia, as well.

Finally, on Sept. 30, the group confirmed that they are, indeed, back with newly recorded music, and they tweeted this photo of Angus Young, Phil Rudd, Stevie Young, Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams.

“ARE YOU READY?” AC/DC tweeted.

Vocalist Johnson, bassist Williams and drummer Rudd have all been away from the band for several years. Now, however, they are all returning for AC/DC’s comeback.

Angus Young’s brother, Malcolm Young, who was the group’s co-founder and guitarist, passed away in 2017 at age 64 following a battle with dementia. The brothers had formed the band in Australia in 1973. They released their first album in 1974 and first hit the charts in the United States in 1977.

AC/DC remained a rock powerhouse throughout the 1980s and drew large crowds at concerts throughout the ’90s. Over the decades, they continued to release albums, with 2014’s “Rock or Bust” being their 20th and last album (until now). The band continued touring as well. When Johnson retired due to hearing problems, Guns N’ Roses vocalist Axl Rose stepped in to tour with the band in 2016.

Rumor has it that the band has already recorded their new album, but they have yet to announce tour dates due to the coronavirus pandemic.

You can listen to a sample of “Shot in the Dark” in their recent Twitter post, which announced that the single will be released this Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Are you excited to hear this legendary band’s comeback album?
