Snow warnings remain through Saturday night

Get the snowblower out from the back of the garage! Spots in the S.Tier will get their first significant snowfall of the year through Saturday!

The National Weather Service of Buffalo has issued a Lake Effect Snow Warning for Southern Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua, and Cattaraugus Counties until 10pm Saturday. McKean County in Pennsylvania also under a Lake Effect Snow Advisory.

Lake Effect Snow Advisory for Allegany County until 10pm Saturday for 2-5" of snow.

Some areas in the most persistent band of lake effect could produce snowfall rates up to 2” an hour!

Time Line for Lake Effect:

Overnight the band will bring several inches of snow to Southern Erie, SW Wyoming, Chautauqua, and Cattaraugus Counties. 

Visibility will be down to a quarter mile within the most intense areas of the lake effect band. Use caution when driving through the hills south of Buffalo through Saturday.  Keep an eye on 7 Super Dopplerto know what you will encounter and possibly rearrange your travel plans.

The lake effect band dives south late this evening back into the S.Tier and across the Chautauqua Ridge, Ski Country and into western Allegany county. 

For Saturday, the lake effect band remains in the deep southern-tier along I-86 and the state line, accumulating another 3-6" for the western S.Tier and 1-3" for Allegany county.

When all is said and done, towns from Sinclairville to Mayville could see snow totals close to a foot of snow!
