William Carrier is one of the elder statesman at Sabres development camp.

Had he not broken his hand near the end of last year, he probably would have been with the big club the final few games of the season.

Carrier scored 13 games last season with Rochester, but missed the final month of the season after breaking his hand.

During the Blue and Gold scrimmage the 21-year-old was engaged and physical every time he hit the ice - one of the best players in the game.

Any time you get a chance to prove yourself in front of Tim Murray and the coaching staff, Carrier says you have to take it.

"It was just a broken bone. It heals up pretty good and it's all right, right now so we're all set to go," Carrier said following Saturday's scrimmage.  "I'm just trying to battle for a job. I think I'm at that point in my career where I can actually make an impact and try to push for a spot in the NHL."
