BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Next season, the Buffalo Sabres are taking their talents to Sweden!

On Thursday the NHL announced four teams will be traveling overseas next season as part of the NHL Global Series.

The Sabres will head to Stockholm Sweden, where they’ll take on their division rivals the Tampa Bay Lightning on November 8th and 9th. The pair of regular season games will be played at Ericcson Globe.

For the NHL the move makes a ton of sense. Both the Lightning and Sabres rosters’ are loaded with talented players from Sweden, including former Norris winning defenseman Victor Hedman and 2018 first overall pick Rasmus Dahlin.

The Sabres last took part in an international showcase in 2011 when they played a two-game series in Helsinki, Finland and Berlin, Germany to open the regular season.
