After winning their first sectional title in school history a week ago, the Dunkirk football team added one more accolade to their historic season: a trip to the state semifinals.

The Marauders held on for a  thrilling 50-48 overtime victory to punch their ticket to the Class B semifinals next Saturday in Syracuse.  It's the first time in school history the team has advanced this far in the postseason.

Leading 42-32 with 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Batavia's Ray Leach hauled in an eight yard TD to pull the Blue Devils within 42-40.

They then converted the two point conversion to force overtime.

In the extra session, the Marauders struck first on a 20-yard touchdown run from Alton Ingram.  Dunkirk converted the two point attempt to open up a 50-42 lead.

Batavia answered with a two yard touchdown run from quarterback Jerry Reinhart, but that would be the last time the Blue Devils would find themselves in the end zone.

On the two point conversion Reinhart's pass fell incomplete in the end zone securing the historic victory for Dunkirk.
