A Lockport woman was taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital following a house fire on Ashley Place Monday night.
The fire started before 10:30 p.m. Firefighters tell 7 Eyewitness News a woman who lives on the same street as her mother noticed smoke coming from her mother's home and went inside to rescue her. The mother required medical attention and was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The fire was contained to the front of the house and firefighters were able to completely extinguish it around 11 p.m.
No other injuries were reported. Damage is estimated at $40,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
