Whole Foods can now move full steam ahead with plans to open its first store in Western New York.
The Town of Amherst issued the company a building permit Thursday to construct the interior of its 50,000 square-foot store in Northtown Plaza.
WS Development, which bought the 400,000 square foot plaza in spring of 2015, plans to make Whole Foods the centerpiece of a new commercial destination that will include a mix of local and national retailers and restaurants.
Picone Construction is the general contractor for the project.
The store is expected to open later this year.
