Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park hosted the 6th annual Louis R. Palma Veteran Tribute awards on Saturday, August 27th.
The awards are named in honor of Louis R. Palma, who was a lifelong resident of Western New York. He saw action in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam war.
On Saturday, the ceremony honored those who give their time to support veterans and military families of Western New York. Peter Pilc, a retired Army Master Sergeant was given an award for his work establishing veteran initiatives in the community. Dr. John B. Long, an Army Staff Sergeant who served in World War II, also received an award for supporting veterans' causes all across the country.
