The pickup truck that New York State Police believe was involved in a hit and run accident that seriously injured a woman belongs to a State Corrections Officer, according to his attorney.
7 Eyewitness News has confirmed with Attorney Barry Covert that his client, who is from the Town of Tonawanda, does own the Black Dodge pickup truck that NYSP seized after the June 13 incident on Grand Island.
The officer, who works at the Wende Correctional Facility in Alden, is not facing charges at this time, and is not being named.
Investigators say 53-year-old Dana Papaj was walking along East River Road when she was hit.
Friends tell 7 Eyewitness News that Papaj is in a coma at ECMC.
State Police say the crash is still under investigation.
