A Town of Tonawanda man could spend the rest of his life in prison for killing his girlfriend.
An Erie County Court judge sentenced John Avent, 50, to 25 years to life behind bars Wednesday for second-degree murder.
Avent fatally stabbed Roberta Rybinski, 51, in the Newell Avenue apartment they shared last spring.
Rybinski was killed sometime between March 3rd and March 8th of 2016. Her body was found on the 8th.
