Uber and its opponents in the cab industry are ratcheting up their fight over Uber's proposed expansion in New York state.

The app-based ride-hailing service on Tuesday is releasing a survey it commissioned which found broad support for its plans to operate outside of New York City. It says 75 percent of those surveyed said they support the expansion, and most said Uber would help the economy by creating jobs.

Meanwhile, a group of cab owners began a new online campaign questioning Uber's claims that it will create new jobs. The new online ads, from the Committee for Taxi Safety, accuse Uber of misstating job claims to boost profits.

The moves come as lawmakers prepare to consider regulations which would allow Uber to expand into cities like Rochester and Buffalo.
