It's never too early to learn the importance of saving money. Local second graders are learning how to put their math skills to the test by managing their finances.

Students at Hillview Elementary are taking part in a program which encourages the youngsters to start making deposits into their very own youth savings account at Lancaster Depew Federal Credit Union.

"We really wanted to find a way to get kids excited, get kids involved and learning about finances while helping them with their common core standards with money in second grade which is why we chose second grade for this" said Sarah Struzik, Marketing Director Lancaster Depew FCU.

The credit union is operated by students under supervision at Lancaster High School and is located right on campus.
