A Scio man is now facing charges after a deadly crash in Allegany County.

According to New York State Police, 43-year-old Todd Gardner was arrested and charged with manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.

Troopers say a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on County Route 18 in the Town of Scio around 12:30 a.m. Monday.

According to NYSP, Gardner hit 37-year-old Douglas Brauen, of Wellsville. Brauen sustained injuries, but was alert at the time. He was taken to Jones Memorial Hospital to be treated, but went into cardiac arrest and died.

Troopers say Gardner was under the influence at the time of the crash, with a breath test resulting in a .11 percent BAC.

Gardner was taken to Allegany County Jail on $5,000 bail.
