The Town of Tonawanda Police Department is issuing a warning about phone scam targeting the elderly.
Police say they have received reports of a "Grandparent Scam" where a phone call is made to a senior citizen claiming to be one of their grandchildren.
The caller posing as the grandchild then tells the grandparent that they are in jail and need bail money.
To make sure your loved ones stay protected, police recommend writing down the number of the caller and not giving out any information. Also, contact your bank if you believe your account has been compromised.
