Political satirist and host of Real Time with Bill Maher is under fire today after using a racial slur during a discussion with Republican Senator Ben Sasse on his show Friday night.
During the segment, Senator Sasse joked he would like to have Maher visit his home state of Nebraska and work in the fields. Maher responded saying he would be a house slave, not a field slave.
Activists including Reverend Al Sharpton quickly criticized Maher, as other comments flooded twitter Friday night and Saturday Morning.
Sasse wrote Saturday on Twitter he wished he had immediately criticized Maher for using the term.
