Niagara Falls police are investigating a deadly shooting right near the Coastal gas station on 19th Street.

Police say 27-year-old James Arroyo died in the shooting.  They say he was shot four times--three times in the chest and once in the neck--in the alley between 19th and 20th Streets.

Police and medics were called to the Coastal Gas Station, on 19th Street and Walnut Avenue, about 12:40 a.m. Thursday. Rural/Metro AMR crews rushed Arroyo to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center early Thursday morning. Police say Arroyo died on the way there.

Police gathered evidence at the scene for most of the overnight.

It's unclear what happened before the shooting.  A small group gathered near the scene hours later to light candles and reflect on what happened.

This is the same gas station where shots were fired on October 6.  At least one bullet went through the window of the gas station creating a spider web effect.  No one was hurt.  Police have not released any information about this shooting.
