A veteran New York State Trooper has died after being struck by a car in Saratoga County.

Investigators say Trooper Timothy Pratt was hit by a car around 6:30 a.m. while assisting the driver of an 18-wheeler, which was stopped in the median on Ballard Road in the town of Wilton.

He was later pronounced dead at Albany Medical Center.

The driver who hit him is not facing charges.

Trooper Pratt was 50 years-old. He joined New York State Police in 1987.

Just last month, Pratt led first responders on an annual 9/11 motorcycle ride from the Capital Region to New York City.

Trooper Pratt leaves behind a fiancé and three children.

Governor Cuomo has ordered all flags be lowered to half staff in memory of Trooper Pratt.
