A massive wildfire is burning through thousands of acres of land in Alberta, Canada. More than 88,000 residents from Fort McMurray have successfully evacuated the area including at least one individual with Western New York ties.

7 Eyewitness News spoke with a Newfane woman, whose daughter left her house in Alberta this Wednesday morning after seeing flames and smoke nearby. "She's very scared." said Nancy-Lynn Clark. "She said she couldn't see out their windows. She had their dog with them. He was just panting. She looked behind her and said everything was about gone."

The flames are being fanned by unseasonably hot temperatures and dry conditions. One neighborhood saw eighty percent of its homes burned.
