In 2014 First Lady Michelle Obama issued a challenge to end Veteran homelessness in communities across the country. On Thursday four local Mayors, including Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, announced they had accomplished that goal.

"I am very pleased to announce that in our community we accepted that challenge. We delivered. I'm proud to announce today that we have effectively ended Veteran homelessness in our community." said Brown.

The announcement came just days after the recent decision to construct new housing facilities for Veterans and their families to help keep them off the streets.

Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster, Lockport Mayor Anne McCaffrey and Tonawanda Mayor Rick Davis also proclaimed success in the challenge to end Veteran homelessness.
