Leon fire chief gets probation after sexually abusing minors

A Leon fire chief, who was found guilty of sexually abusing two minors in 2014 and 2015, was sentenced to ten years probation on Monday.

Laurence Ellis, 42, also had to surrender his EMT license.

After his arrest in September 2015, Ellis was charged with use of a child in a sexual performance, second degree assault, two counts of second degree rape and two counts of third degree criminal sexual act. He was also charged with two ccounts of endangering the welfare ofa child and nine counts of third degree sex abuse.

Ellis will have a Sex Offender Registration Act (SORA) hearing on April 17 to determine what level of sex offender he will be.
