Christmas procrastinators were hitting the aisles overnight in North Buffalo thanks in part to marathon hours set by national retailers.
Kohl's on Delaware Avenue is cashing in on the last minute shopping tendencies of some shoppers.
The chain is doubling down during their 100-hour sale giving shoppers $10 in "Kohl's cash" for every $50 spent. Shoppers are also seeing in-store discounts of 40-70% until 6 p.m. Wednesday.
"Shopping is like an arms race today, if one store doesn't get you to spend with them you'll just spend somewhere else. They are desperate," said author Mark Ellwood.
Michelle Hare arrived in Buffalo overnight from New York City.
"I haven't done a stitch of shopping. So here it is, I don't know, 1 o'clock in the morning, and I'm out getting a few bargains," said Hare. "It was worth it actually. According to the register I saved about $95. I think it was well worth the trip."
Kohls has seen a net loss of nearly $100 million compared to last year's figures according to BusinessWeek.com.
Some local businesses report that sales fell between 6-8% from last year according to Business First.
Experts think one of the reasons revenues are down year to year is because retailers "cannibalized" themselves on Black Friday by opening so early on Thanksgiving Day.
