Jamestown woman charged under Leandra's Law

A Jamestown woman is in custody after an early morning traffic stop.

Vanessa M. Maldonado was pulled over by Jamestown Police at 4:30 Monday morning after police noticed her vehicle had a loud muffler.

Upon further investigation, officers found Maldanado  was operating the vehicle while intoxicated with an unrestrained 6 year old child in the vehicle.  Malodonado was also found to be in possession of cocaine.

Maldonado was was arrested and is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child (Leandra's Law), Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and several traffic violations including Felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation.

Maldonado is currently in the Jamestown City Jail awaiting arraignment and CPS has been notified of the incident.
