Buffalo School Board member Carl Paladino faces a challenge for the park district seat next month - from someone who hasn't even graduated high school.

Eighteen-year-old Austin Harig is a senior at Hutch Tech High School and has declared his candidacy for Paladino's seat.

He admits it may appear to be a David vs. Golliath scenario, but he says it's time for a change and he's the man to make it.

"I've seen so much disharmony on the school board and it's lead by a person who brings their acts to these things, and really doesn't account for the fact that disharmony and fighting is hurting us kids," said Harig.

"I've personally witnessed this throughout my tenure in being at the Buffalo Public Schools. I've been there since the 3rd grade. And I swear this is one of the worst times for the Buffalo Public Schools and its hurting our students."

Harig says he's raised about $1,500 for his campaign.

The election for school board is set for May 3rd with 6 of the 9 seats up for grabs.
