We've all heard the old story, a firefighter saves a cat from a tree, but what about a bird?

The Alexander Fire Department was called to rescue a pet parrot from a tree on Brookville Road over the weekend. The owner told firefighters the bird, named Champ, had been stuck for more than three hours and could not get down on its own. The owner said it had only flown twice.

Firefighters had to call in Ladder 25 from the Batavia Fire Department to get up to the bird, which was 40 to 50 feet in the air. Rescuers were able to get the bird back down to safety. They called the bird "exhausted but unharmed."
