Fire crews fought attic fire on west side

The Buffalo Fire Department fought an early morning attic fire on the west side Friday.

Firefighters were alerted to the fire at 181 Normal Avenue around 3:18 a.m.

Arriving crews found the fire in the attic of a rear cottage at that address. Two occupants were able to escape the fire before firefighters arrived.

The Red Cross will assist two adults and one child.

The fire was placed under control at 3:45 a.m. Damages were estimated to be $60,000.

The cause is under investigation.
