Erie County is investing in the Buffalo Museum of Science to help improve access and upgrade the facility.
The $500,000 investment will be used to install a new elevator, extend the fourth-floor staircase to the roof to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The project will include interior demolition, extensive electrical upgrades, and removal of the old spiral staircase to the roof.
The $500,000 in funding was included by County Executive Mark Poloncarz as part of the 2-16 Erie County bond resolution and approved by county legislators.
