Amherst is taking steps to have greater control when it comes to zoning decisions in the town.
The move follows news of a methadone clinic that's set to open in a residential area on Millersport Highway.
Amherst Town Board Members voted unanimously to create a committee to discuss future zoning projects.
Monday's decision, however, will not impact the Millersport Highway clinic as that project is grandfathered in, at least for the next three to five years, according to the town supervisor.
