Investigators are trying to figure out the cause of a large fire that destroyed an old barn in Alden.
The fire started around midnight Saturday on Walden Ave near the Alden Correctional Facility.
We spoke to the Erie Co. Sheriff's Office and were told the barn was owned by Erie County and that the Sheriff's Fire Investigation Unit had been dispatched.
We were also told that the barn was empty and hadn't been used for quite some time, despite initial reports that equipment had been stored there.
The two-alarm fire also sparked a large grass fire.
