A Lockport man has been arrested and charged in connection with a case of missing money from a fundraiser.

Town of Tonawanda Police say 47-year-old Scott Hemperly is charged with grand larceny.

Back in May, 7 Eyewitness News reported that thousands of dollars, meant to be donated to WNY Heroes, went missing after a fundraiser held by the Jeep Club of WNY. At that time, members of the Jeep Club say they asked Hemperly, who was a member, about the money. They say he told them that he dropped it off to the organization in December, but could not find the receipt or proof of the donation. Members of the Jeep Club then filed a police report for the missing funds.

Police say Hemperly turned himself into the court with his attorney on Friday. He was released on recognizance.

Hemperly is scheduled for arraignment on an additional count of grand larceny in Clarence Town Court in July.
