Jamestown Police and Fire responded to an accidental drowning in the Chadakoin River at 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
Police say the incident happened in the area of Winsor Street at Chandler Street at the bridge there. It was reported that the man was swimming and went under the water and did not come back up.
The Chautauqua County Dive Team also searched the area and found the body of Dennis Plummer, 47, around 4 p.m. He was found west of the bridge in about ten feet of water.
The Chautauqua County Coroner pronounced Plummer dead at the scene.
