A little boy is now fighting to recover following an accidental shooting in the Wyoming County Town of Bennington.
Sheriff's Deputies were called to the home on Tooley Road just before 8:00am Saturday, December 30.
Investigators say the 3-year-old boy was shot through the chest/shoulder area with a .45 caliber handgun.
The child was rushed to Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo where he underwent surgery and is now recovering.
Deputies say they are continuing to investigate, but stress the shooting was accidental and that the little boy "came into contact with the loaded handgun in the living room."
The gun, according to deputies, is registered to the boy's father.
