Cheektowaga police are investigating a drowning at a hotel swimming pool.
The incident happened around 7:30 Sunday night at the Millennium Hotel on Walden Avenue.
Police say 18-year-old Tyler Craig of Hewitt Avenue in Buffalo drowned in a swimming pool there. Police say Craig jumped into the deep end of the pool but did not know how to swim. His friends noticed and jumped in to save him, but they too did not know how to swim, according to officers. Assistant Chief Speyer says they also almost drowned we well.
Police say someone who could swim finally jumped in to the pool and got Craig.
When police arrived, they say they performed CPR until EMS got to the scene.
Police tell us the victim was taken to Sister's Hospital, Saint Joseph's Campus where he was pronounced dead.
