AEP is the short name for the Medicare Annual Election Period.
This is Open Enrollment season for Medicare eligible people. It runs every year from October 15 through December 7th.
For most Medicare eligible people, AEP is the one time per year when you have the opportunity to make changes to your Medicare Advantage plans. If you’re happy with your plan then you don’t have to make a change. Or if you’re only enrolled with original Medicare parts A & B then this is your chance to get enhanced coverage with a Medicare Advantage plan.
