BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — EG Tax President Esther Gulyas said if you haven't received your check or deposit yet, don't panic, because the IRS only began distributing money earlier this week. But if you filed your taxes with H&R Block or TurboTax, you may have to wait a little longer for your money.

That’s because when you file for a refund advance with these companies, your refund goes to a third-party bank.

“When the IRS is sending out these stimulus payments, all they had for direct deposits was the money goes to the bank. So, they send it to a third-party bank. The bank is then issuing refunds to these people. It's another step, but they're going to get their money,” Gulyas said.

Gulyas said the stimulus check will come from the third-party bank instead of the IRS.

You can find out what bank was used by looking at the documents provided by H&R Block or TurboTax.

“The taxpayer has the phone number there where they can call that third-party bank. They can contact that third-party bank. You might get better help there,” said Gulyas.

She recommended contacting the third-party bank to find out where your stimulus check is rather than the IRS.

But still, getting that money may take some time.

“Everyone who was supposed to get the stimulus refund through direct deposit hasn't gotten it. It's entirely possible the bank didn't get it yet either,” Gulyas said.

Gulyas also said if you have moved since filing your taxes, make sure you let your tax preparer know so your check is sent to the right address.
