The Canisius College women's lacrosse team is gearing up for another NCAA Tournament appearance.

The Griffs visit eighth-seeded Cornell Friday night in the first round of the tourney.

Canisius has won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in five of the past six years, earning their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.  The only non-championship campaign was last season when they were upset in the MAAC Championship game by Fairfield.

That loss has fueled the Griffs this season.

“This year we had a fire under our butts to improve and get that win back,” said Canisius sophomore Allie Stewart.  “We were the underdogs. Everybody gets pumped up when they are the underdogs.”

“We’ve been doing so well in the last few games, just coming out dominating, I think if we take that mentality into the next game we should have a good chance of beating them,” said sophomore Erica Evans.

The Griffs (13-6) visit Cornell (ranked 8th) Friday at 7:00pm.
