The University at Buffalo announced the passing of one of its "most loyal supporters," Dr. Edmond J. Gicewicz.
Gicewicz, also known as "Doc," a 1952 graduate of UB, was a three-sport athlete during his time there playing football, basketball and baseball.
He earned a medical degree from UB in 1956 and went on to become the football team physician for 27 years. He was also a 16-year member of the UB Council and served as President of the UB Alumni Association.
“Whether he was making winning plays on the field, taking excellent care of our student-athletes on the sidelines or cheering them on from the stands, Doc epitomized UB Bulls pride and spirit,” said President Satish K. Tripathi.
Gicewicz passed away on Wednesday at the age of 89, funeral arrangements are not yet finalized.
