Buffalo firefighters were called to a two-alarm fire on Pearl Street early Tuesday morning.  Two-alarms mean nearly 60 firefighters were on the scene.

Heavy smoke was seen coming from a two-story building just after 7:30 a.m.

Buffalo firefighters say the building is a restaurant and a bar, La Delicias Taqueria, with apartments on the second floor. The restaurant was previously called Cuba Rosa.

The fire was quickly marked under control, but caused about $175,000 in damage to the building and about $125,000 in damage to contents inside.

It's unclear how the fire started, but the restaurant owner says it started in an upstairs apartment in the laundry room. She says the apartment tenant was sleeping and woke up to smoke. The cause is under investigation.

It is unclear if anyone was hurt.

Traffic on part of Pearl Street is closed as firefighters investigate.
