A tractor trailer crashed into a power pole early Tuesday morning, in the City of Tonawanda. After that initial crash, wires and five other poles fell to the ground.
The accident happened about 12:45 a.m. at the intersection of Main and Fletcher.
Police say the power lines arched and caused a fire in the street. National Grid eventually came and cut power to the lines.
Power was out for five hours in that area. National Grid reported over 100 people were without power.
Police say the crash happened when the driver tried to turn around. The driver, Marc Lefler, told officers he got lost.
The trailer was taken away from the scene hours after the crash, because power lines were on top of the truck.
