Three people escaped their burning home in the early hours of the morning on Sunday.

A passerby called 911 at around 3 AM to report a fire at 3608 Cambria Wilson Road. The person then attempted to approach the house and wake up the residents inside. By that time, the people inside were already evacuating on their own.

The house was occupied by a 67-year-old woman, 61-year-old man, and 86-year-old woman. The 86-year old woman has limited mobility, and had to be helped out by her son due to the heavy smoke.

The homeowner reported he had been woken up by smoke detectors. One dog is believed to have died in the fire, while one cat was able to get out.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Niagara County Origin and Cause unit.

The house suffered major damage and the American Red Cross was called to assist.
