Key points:

  • The Erie County Fair opens its doors Wednesday
  • What you can and can't bring to The Fair is below

The Erie County Fair is about to open its gates Wednesday. And with that in mind, there are a few things you need to know as you head out to the Hamburg Fairgrounds.

You'll obviously need a ticket into The Fair. You can purchase them at The Fair or at local participating Tops Friendly Markets. Need group tickets? Call The Fairgrounds at 649-3900, extension 6403.

It costs ten dollars to get in, seven dollars for people 60 and over. Kids 12 and under are free. By the way, Channel 7 has its own day at The Fair. Two dollar admission all day Tuesday, August 16th.

If you need a stroller or wagon to rent, you can find those items at gates number two, four and five. Wheelchairs and electric carts are available to be rented at those gates as well.

Driving in from Canada? There is a e Ticket Office located right behind the Grandstand if you need to exchange currency. The e Ticket Office is open between the times of 8 am and 9 pm.

As for parking, it'll cost you $2 on opening day, $3 on Thursday. From Friday till the end of The Fair, the cost of parking increases to $5.

The fair does provide shuttles from the parking lots to The Fairgrounds, depending on how big the crowds are.

You are allowed to bring your cooler onto the Fairgrounds. However, glass containers and alcohol within the cooler are not permitted.

Pets, leave them at home. Your lovable lab unfortunately will not be able to take in the rides and games on the midway like you will.

Umbrellas and professional cameras with a telephoto lens are not allowed into concerts.

Since we're on the topic of concerts, notable guests who will be performing at The Fair include musicians Bret Michaels, Shawn Mendes and comedian Jeff Dunham. You can buy tickets here

Other notable but common sense banned items include weapons such as firearms, knives, and chemical sprays. Illegal drugs are not allowed on site. Gang affiliated attire is also not welcome on The Hamburg Fairgrounds.

If you don't want to stuff your face with fried dough and cotton candy, there are alternative healthy options to choose from at The Fair. You can find a list of healthy food items right here.

If for some reason there is a medical emergency, a first aid station will be located near the Hickory Tree Park behind The Mall building.

For map a map of The Erie County Fair and other good information, you can find that out at on their app. You can download The Fairgrounds App in the Google Play, Kindle Fire and Apple Store.
