The teenage boy who was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana while driving a boat in June 2015, resulting in his girlfriend's death, was sentenced in court Tuesday afternoon.

Gregory Green, 19, was sentenced to six months in jail and five years probation following the boating death of 16-year-old Avery Gardner. He previously pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter in criminally negligent homicide.

District Attorney John Flynn says Green had a BAC level of .15%, almost twice the legal limit, when the accident happened. Flynn says he was driving the boat at a high rate of speed and in a reckless manner.

When the boat approached and went under a footbridge, Gardner's head hit the bridge, causing her death.

An Erie County Grand Jury previously Timothy Wisniewski, 51, guilty of supplying an excess of alcohol and marijuana to Gardner and Green.
