Six fire companies battled a fire in Niagara County Sunday morning.
Wendelville, Shawnee, Adams, North Amherst, Getzville, and Swarmville Fire companies all responded to reports of a house fire at 6730 Macintosh Lane in the Town of Pendleton around 9 a.m. Sunday.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff, the fire began in the garage attached to the two-story home, the house suffered substantial damage and two vehicles were a total loss.
The only occupant escaped without injury, four family cats were found in the residence but appear to have escaped injury.
Sheriffs say one volunteer firefighter suffered a foot injury.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
