Police in the City of Lockport have determined that a device found at a pawn shop was not an explosive.

Originally found Monday evening and called a potential "live grenade," police are now calling it a device and saying the public was not in any danger. Police Captain Brian Wentland said what was found was a "suspicious device like a military pouch 40 millimeter grenade written on it."

The device was found by a pawn shop employee and the area around Locust Street was cordoned off while a State Police bomb unit responded.

They cleared the scene after a few hours.

Police say no charges are expected in this incident.
