Nationwide, communities are ramping up protests, calling on local representatives to hold town hall meetings.

A change.org petition  is now asking Rep. Chris Collins to hold a town hall in the next 90 days.

The petition states, "The constituents of NY27 would like the opportunity to meet with our representative! He is chronically unavailable by phone or at his offices. Messages and letters from constituents receive only generic, form responses that do not address our questions and concerns."

The petition goes on to read, "His staff assures us that Congressman Collins has a schedule of public appearances at which constituents can speak with him, but this calendar is perpetually unavailable. He states that he meets with small groups, but we have requested many times to meet with him as individuals and in small groups, to no avail."

Rep.Collins says he's never held a town hall meeting and doesn't plan to because he believes there are better ways to communicate. Meanwhile, Representatives Tom Reed and Brian Higgins have created unique events and programs more in favor of the town hall dynamic.
