A $5,000 reward is being offered to anyone who can provide information on the person or persons responsible for stabbing a pig in Sloan.

People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) say a big was found bleeding heavily from a stab wound in the backyard of a Rutland Avenue home on January 12.

The pig was rushed to emergency surgery for her wounds, which investigators say were intentionally inflicted.

No arrests have been made and no one has come forward to claim the pig.

PETA says the pig, now named Tabitha, was found alone in a residential area where there are no farms. The organization says it is illegal to keep pigs as pets there.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call PETA (202) 483-7382.

The Erie County SPCA is doing its own investigation.
