Niagara Falls Police are investigating a fatal go-kart crash in the 1900 block of Buffalo Avenue SHORTLY BEFORE 3:00 P.M. Saturday.

According to police, a 34 year old was driving a high performance go-kart on the roadway after having new equipment installed on it at a near-by auto shop. The go-kart was west bound and spun around into the east bound lane in front of a Chevrolet Volt (traveling east). The driver of the Volt was unable to avoid the go-kart and stuck him. The go-kart and its driver became stuck under the Volt.

Niagara Falls Fire Department and AMR Ambulance crews responded to the scene and attempted to save the driver. He was transported to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the go-kart was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the Volt is not being charged. The Niagara Falls Police Department Crash Management Unit is handling the investigation.
