A teen from Cheektowaga was killed Monday evening after her car slammed into a tractor trailer.

Authorities say Amanda Macaluso, 19, was traveling north on Three Road Road in Marilla when she failed to stop at a stop sign around 3:45 p.m. and crossed into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer which was heading east on Bullis Road.

The semi driver was unable to stop and T-boned Macaluso's vehicle, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway and come to a rest on the front lawn of a home.

Tim Walton will always remember his friend.

“She is a great person. No matter what she was always there and always caring. She did it with a smile on her face,” Walton said.

Now he is raising money to help her family, including her mom and three siblings.

“GoFundMe.com is to help her family out with funeral costs. We posted last night and there is already $500,” Walton said.

According to Macaluso's Facebook page, it is not the first time that the family faced tragedy. Her cousin also lost his life while on the road.

“Her cousin Eric Fontaine died in a motorcycle accident and she is up there with him. He meant a lot to her,” Walton said.

Friends of Macaluso will drive from a Tops Friendly Market in Lancaster at 6 p.m. to the scene of the accident in Marilla, Tuesday night.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
