Many Buffalo residents were displaced from their apartment after a fire blazed through an apartment building located on Lafayette Street early Saturday morning.

In response to the fire, The Red Cross has opened an additional shelter at St John's-Grace Episcopal Church here in Buffalo.

The Red Cross says that the fire department estimates around 90 residents lived in the apartment complex. However, it's unclear how many residents were displaced due to the fire.

According to The Red Cross, there is no word as to when residents will be able to return to the apartment. However, the shelter will be open for as long as possible.

The Red Cross says you can help people affected by fires and natural disasters by making a donation by visiting redcross.org, by calling 1-800-REDCROSS or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
